The institution was established in July 1955 as a second-grade college. With the start of B.Sc Mathematics and B. A  Economics course in March 1957, it was elevated to the status of a first-grade college. Little Flower College is a Christian college founded and maintained by the Franciscan Congregation’s Assisi Province and under the religious jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Thrissur. Despite being a minority institution, especially for Catholics, it welcomes students of all castes and creeds. Little Flower College is a women’s Catholic college affiliated with the University of Calicut.
