Description:

Sree Manappullikkavu Bhagavathy Temple Kunnathurmedu is a revered Hindu shrine situated in East Yakkara, Kunnathurmedu, Palakkad, Kerala, dedicated to the powerful Goddess Bhadrakali, popularly known as Manapulli Amma. Devotees from across Kerala visit this temple seeking blessings, protection, and prosperity, drawn by its peaceful ambience and deep spiritual aura. The moolasthanam of the deity lies in West Yakkara, with her divine presence extending to related shrines in East Yakkara, Kallikkad, and Koppam, making this temple part of a larger sacred network of devotion.

The temple carries a rich historical legacy connected to the Kenath family, who were its original custodians before it came under the administration of the Malabar Devaswom Board. According to folklore, the goddess was worshipped by a Brahmin family whose kitchen prayers gave the area its name, later evolving into Yakkara. The main idol, uniquely carved from jackfruit tree trunk, faces north and is considered one of the oldest sacred representations of Bhadrakali in the region, with an Ashtamangala Prasnam confirming its ancient origin.

Architecturally, the temple features a traditional sreekovil, namaskara mandapam, chuttambalam, and sub-shrines dedicated to Ganapathi and Brahmarakshas, along with a scenic temple tank behind the premises. The temple is best known for its grand annual Manappullikavu Vela festival, celebrated with elephants, fireworks, and processions organized by eight deshams. Devotees also observe agricultural offerings during the Malayalam month of Vrichikam, honoring the goddess as a guardian of harvest and prosperity.

Darshan at Sree Manappullikkavu Bhagavathy Temple Kunnathurmedu is open from 5:30 AM to 10:30 AM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with prasad offerings and traditional dress code observed. Located near National Highway 544, the temple offers ample parking and a spiritually enriching experience for visitors exploring Palakkad's cultural and religious heritage.
